Community Hope, Inc. has provided housing and essential services to former servicemen and women in recovery from a debilitating mental illness. In partnership with the Lyons Veterans Affairs staff, Community Hope provides the following intensive services: transitional housing for up to two years, recovery services for substance abuse and depression, post traumatic stress, and other forms of mental illness, case management services linking veterans to health and rehabilitation services, access to job programs and an on-site computer training lab, support groups and peer support from other veterans in the program with similar experiences, access to benefits and counseling in budgeting skills to enhance financial self-sufficiency and linkage to affordable housing upon graduation.

The VANJHCS is a consolidated facility comprised of two main campuses, one in East Orange, the corporate office located in Northeastern New Jersey within the greater New York metropolitan area, and one in Lyons, 22 miles to the west of the East Orange Campus. Primary care is emphasized at the VANJHCS. Veterans are assigned their own health care providers whom they see on a regular basis. Access to a wide variety of specialists is available through the primary providers. In addition to general medical, psychiatry, and long-term care, a full range of medical and surgical subspecialty care is provided to veterans of the VANJHCS in a variety of special programs as listed below. Because the VANJHCS is dedicated to developing programs that meet all veterans` needs, teams of physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers and others all work together to develop programs of distinction that often become models for the health care field.The System`s Diabetes Education, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Prosthetics, Homeless Outreach Programs, and others have been recognized for outstanding achievement both within the Department of Veterans Affairs and the general health care community. .

Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service provides vocational-educational counseling to veterans and certain dependents VR&E can provide a wide range of vocational and educational counseling services to service members still on active duty, as well as veterans and dependents who are eligible for one of VA`s educational benefit programs. These services are designed to help an individual choose a vocational direction and determine the course needed to achieve the chosen goal. Assistance may include interest and aptitude testing; occupational exploration; setting occupational goals; locating the right type of training program and exploring educational or training facilities which might be utilized to achieve an occupational goal..
