Somerset County Family Division screens all matters regarding Juvenile Delinquency, Crisis Petitions, Detention, Out-of-Home Placement, Child Placement Review, Abuse/Neglect, Termination of Parental Rights, Custody, Support, Paternity, Dissolution, and Domestic Violence to be considered and referred to the Family Court for further legal action if necessary. Family Court also deals with matter of divorce. The Family Court will, under certain circumstances, remand juveniles to out-of-home placements (correctional and residential placements).

Enforcement of court orders by case monitoring and supervision of juvenile probationers in the community. This includes community service placement, urine monitoring, field visits, school contacts, written sanctions, and collection of fines and restitution. Makes referrals to the appropriate agencies in order to reintegrate the juvenile into society and to deter further delinquent activity, promoting public safety. Acts as a liaison between court, social service agencies, law enforcement, Juvenile Justice Commission, and the educational system.

Advocacy services available, in five municipal courts, to victims of domestic violence.
